Position Title:

Financial Aid Counselor, Providence College
 


Department:

Financial Aid Office

 


Overview:
Assist
in the administration of multi-faceted federal and institutional
financial aid programs primarily through the
determination of financial need and awards while simultaneously
counseling parents and students on aid programs consisting of grants,
loans, and work study funds.

 


Reports to:

Executive Director of Financial Aid  
 

Essential Duties:

Determine
applicant and continuing student financial need for all populations
including undergraduate, SCE, and graduate students using both a federal
and institutional methodology; complete
federally required verification; authorize disbursement of aid
packages; counsel and advise students and parents regarding aid and
financing programs.


2. Coordinate financial aid program(s) as assigned. Prepare, evaluate,
and communicate program information both internally and externally as
appropriate. Specific program responsibilities include managing the
preparation of early estimates and posting of financial
aid for student athletes, and managing the certification and posting of
outside and state scholarships. Individual to act as the liaison to the
School of Continuing Education by adjusting awards to reflect SCE
scholarships.


3. Review appeals for additional aid; collaborate on cases handled by colleagues,; contribute to the review of office policies.


4. Meet with Financial Aid and other college offices to discuss campus
issues; prepare materials or present programs to meet a particular need;
assist other colleagues with programs as needed.

 

Marginal Duties:

Perform all other duties as may be required.

 

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's
Degree in related field from an accredited institution required. One to
three years of financial aid experience
or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge of
federal and state regulations governing financial aid programs.
Analytical and quantitative skills. Strong interpersonal, written, and
public speaking skills. Experience utilizing computer
systems as well as skills with Microsoft Office.
